Kiosk Mode

Turn a mounted iPad or iPhone into a dedicated wall panel. Flux fills the screen edge-to-edge, hides all chrome, swipes between your dashboard's pages, keeps the display awake, and — after an idle stretch — slides into a screensaver that any touch (or even walking up to it) brings back.

What it does

Kiosk Mode is a borderless wall panel for a device that lives on the wall. It shows your dashboard full-screen with the status bar and system overlays hidden, and lets you swipe between pages. A page indicator appears only when the dashboard has more than one page. While the panel is up, the screen stays awake — and after the idle timeout it shows a screensaver that protects the panel and wakes the moment someone interacts.

The screensaver is wall-panel only The screensaver runs only inside the full-screen Kiosk wall panel — never over your normal dashboard, even with the keep-awake toggle on. Any touch brings the dashboard back.

Enter & exit

  1. Open Kiosk Mode from your dashboard to launch the full-screen wall panel.
  2. Swipe left and right to move between the dashboard's pages.
  3. To leave, find the hidden exit button in the corner you chose and press and hold it for one second. It's almost invisible at rest and brightens with a filling ring as you hold, so a casual touch won't exit.

You pick which corner holds the exit button in settings — Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, or Bottom Right.

Optional Face ID / passcode Turn on Require Face ID / passcode to exit and holding the exit button also asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode first — so a guest can't simply hold the button to get out. If the device has no passcode set at all (authentication isn't possible), Flux won't trap you and just exits.

Screensaver

After the device sits idle for the timeout you set, the panel fades into a screensaver. Pick how long to wait before it starts — 1, 2, 5, 10, or 30 minutes — and choose a style:

For the clock styles you can toggle Show date and 24-hour time. For the dimmed-dashboard style, a Dim amount slider controls how much the scrim darkens the dashboard.

Easy on the eyes The clock styles use a dim grey that's gentle on OLED panels and at night, and the clock drifts position once a minute so a static image never burns into the screen.

Wake on motion

Turn on Wake on motion (front camera) and, while the screensaver is showing, the front camera watches for movement at a few low-resolution frames per second. Walk up to the device and the dashboard wakes before you touch it. A Motion sensitivity slider runs from Low (needs a big movement) to High (a flicker wakes it) — raise it if it doesn't wake reliably, lower it if it wakes on its own.

Nothing leaves the device Motion processing happens entirely on the device — frames are never recorded and nothing is sent anywhere.

Keep awake

While the wall panel is up, Flux disables the system idle timer so the display never sleeps. The Kiosk Mode toggle in Settings also keeps the screen awake while Flux is open. The screensaver is what stands in for sleep on a panel that never powers down its screen — and any touch dismisses it instantly.

True lockdown

iOS reserves the swipe-up home gesture for itself, so Flux can't block it alone. For a real kiosk lockdown that also blocks the home swipe, turn on iOS Guided Access:

  1. Open Settings › Accessibility › Guided Access and turn it On.
  2. Launch Flux and enter the Kiosk wall panel.
  3. Triple-click the side button while in Flux to lock it down.

With Guided Access on, only your passcode — and the Flux exit button — gets out. The wall panel shows a self-dismissing hint pointing you to Guided Access whenever it isn't already locked down; you can dismiss it or choose "Don't show again."

Guided Access is the only true lockdown Without it, the panel can be left with a home swipe. With it, the device is genuinely pinned to Flux. This is an iOS limitation, not a Flux one.

Notes
