Gophr Probe Setup Guide
Choose Your Version
Two options are available: Home Assistant WiFi ($100) for local control via ESPHome, or Cellular ($150) for remote locations beyond WiFi range.
Install the Probe
Push the probe stake into the soil at the desired monitoring location. The three sensor bands measure moisture at shallow, mid (root zone), and deep levels. Ensure the sensor bands are fully below the soil surface.
Connect to Your Network
WiFi versions: On first boot, connect via Bluetooth or the captive portal hotspot.
Cellular version: The built-in modem connects automatically — no WiFi configuration needed.
Add to Your Platform
Home Assistant version: Auto-discovered in HA, configure under Devices & Services.
Cellular version: The probe registers automatically with the Flux Cloud. Log into app.fluxopenhome.com to see your probe.
Map Probe to Irrigation Zones
In the Home Assistant Add-on (or cloud dashboard), assign the probe to one or more irrigation zones. The system uses moisture readings to decide whether to water, skip, or adjust duration.
Configure Moisture Thresholds
Set the moisture level that triggers watering for each zone. When the root zone reading drops below the threshold, the system waters. When it's above, the system skips.
Understand Sleep & Solar
The probe sleeps between readings to conserve battery. The solar panel keeps the battery charged during daylight. The system automatically wakes the probe 10 minutes before a scheduled irrigation zone runs, enabling real-time moisture monitoring during watering.
