Home Assistant Add-on Setup Guide

1

Add the Repository

In Home Assistant, go to Settings → Add-ons → Add-on Store. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) → Repositories. Paste: https://github.com/FluxOpenHome/ha-flux-irrigation-addons. Click Add, then Close. The Flux add-on appears in the store.

2

Install the Add-on

Find "Flux Open Home Irrigation Control" in the add-on store. Click Install. Optionally enable "Show in sidebar" for quick access. Click Start.

Warning: After the first install, you MUST restart Home Assistant once. Go to Settings → System → Restart. This is a one-time requirement — the add-on configures integration files that require a restart to load.
3

Select Your Irrigation Controller

Open the add-on web UI. On the Configuration page, find the Irrigation Controller Device section. Select your Flux Irrigation Controller from the dropdown. The add-on automatically discovers all zones and sensors for the selected device.

Tip: Only entities from the selected device are exposed — no other Home Assistant devices (lights, locks, cameras) are accessible through the add-on.
4

Set Up Weather-Based Irrigation

Enable weather-based control on the Configuration page. We recommend the National Weather Service (NWS) integration (free, US only). Install it in HA: Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration → search "National Weather Service." Then select your weather entity in the add-on.

Configure 9 weather rules: Rain Detection, Rain Forecast, Precipitation Threshold, Freeze Protection, Cool Temperature reduction, Hot Temperature increase, Wind Speed skip, High Humidity reduction, and Seasonal Adjustment.

Tip: Click "Test Weather Rules Now" to see which rules would trigger with current conditions.
5

Generate a Connection Key (Optional)

If a lawn care company manages your system, generate a connection key on the Configuration page. Enter your Nabu Casa URL. Fill in your property details (address, city, state, ZIP). Click Generate Connection Key. Send the key to your management company or share via QR code.

Tip: The management company can only access your irrigation zones and sensors — never your other Home Assistant devices.
6

Map Gophr Probes (Optional)

If you have Gophr moisture probes, go to the Moisture Probes section. Select each probe device and map its sensors to irrigation zones. Configure moisture thresholds. The add-on automatically adjusts watering based on real-time soil moisture data. The probe wakes 10 minutes before scheduled zones to provide fresh readings.

7

Configure Zone Details (Optional)

Click the info icon on any zone to add head details: head type (pop-up spray, rotary, gear rotor, drip, etc.), sprinkler model (65+ models in the database with auto-filled GPM), mount type, spray arc, and throw radius. This enables accurate water usage estimation and PDF reports.

8

Revoking Management Access

If you need to disconnect a management company, go to Configuration → Management Access → Revoke Access. This immediately invalidates the connection key. To re-enable, generate a new key and share it.
