Night Light

Setup Guide

1

Unbox & Power On

Plug in via USB-C or the optional power adapter. The LED array will light up with the default effect after a few seconds.

2

Connect to WiFi

On first boot, the Night Light creates a WiFi hotspot named flux-night-light-XXXXXX. Connect from your phone or laptop (no password). A captive portal opens automatically — enter your WiFi network name and password.

You can also use Bluetooth provisioning from the ESPHome dashboard or Home Assistant Companion app.
3

Add to Home Assistant

Once connected to WiFi, Home Assistant will auto-discover the Night Light. Go to Settings → Devices & Services and click Configure on the discovered device.

If not auto-discovered, go to ESPHome Dashboard and adopt the device.
4

Choose Effects & Colors

Open the device in Home Assistant. Use the color picker for custom colors, the brightness slider for dimming, and the effect dropdown to choose from 13 built-in effects: Pulse, Random, Strobe, Flicker, Rainbow, Color Wipe, Scan, Twinkle, Random Twinkle, Fireworks, Flicker, Fire, and Flux Logo.

5

Keep It Updated

Firmware updates appear automatically in Home Assistant. When an update is available, click Install on the device's update entity. Updates are over-the-air — no USB needed.

Alternative: Flash WLED

You can flash WLED firmware instead of ESPHome. Set GPIO10 as the LED data pin, 16 LEDs, GRB color order.

3D Print Your Own Housing

Buy just the board and print the housing yourself. STL files are provided in the GitHub repository, optimized for FDM printers with no supports needed.
